Who Parties Harder on Halloween–San Francisco or L.A.?

California–As the battle of a better Halloween rages on in the north and the south, the question about which city parties harder, San Francisco or L.A., creates a dilemma for those who left their hearts in two places. Many Californians love both regions and must decide on Oct. 31 which city is their best bet. This year the answer comes easier when you can do them both.
The huge Exotic, Erotic Ball held Oct. 23 & 24 at Cow Palace and the even bigger outdoor West Hollywood Carnaval that takes to the streets with over half a million in attendance October 31 allows Halloween party animals to have their candy and eat it, too!
While the two events both attract some amazing costumes, crowds and entertainment, what’s the difference between them? The Exotic, Erotic Ball stretches the bounds of divulgence with costumes you wouldn’t necessarily wear in front of your sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers and children. The outfits are sexy, skimpy and the entertainment might put the decadence of ancient Rome to shame.
West Hollywood’s Carnaval takes on the themes of Hollywood entertainment, trans-gender, adult, and yes, kids can attend, though the city recommends you don’t bring the children, and even throws a carnaval party a week earlier for them specifically, hoping they’ll not be introduced to the Carnaval, which is an adult-style event. Since one is on private, enclosed facilities and the other is out on the public streets, it’s up to the adults attending to use common sense and discretion during their Hallowee party pleasure.
For someone wanting to party as hard at New Year’s Eve on Times Square, the West Hollywood Carnaval really tops it, offering musical acts all night long throughout the streets, incredible costumes seen on stage sets, and the Southern California weather seldom dipping below 60 degrees.
Don’t be forced to love the south or north more. California has enough love in its heart to embrace its sisters and brothers, from Southern and Northern California. Try attending both Halloween events to discover that Halloween partying crosses the geographic barriers.
