Nude Protest at San Onofre’s Former Nude Beach

Keep your eyes shut and don’t go near San Onofre’s Trail 6 this Sunday if nakedness offends you. In protest of the California State Park’s clamp down and change of heart in allowing nude sunbathers to bask in this small section of the California State beaches, an organized event on Sunday, Sept. 13, in which sunbathers will bare it all, is scheduled.
Huntington Beach attorney, Allen Baylis, of the Naturist Action Committee, said the group is calling for beach-goers to shed their clothing to protest the California Department of Parks and Recreation’s announcement that nude sunbathers will be cited at the beach. Previously considered clothing-optional, Baylis and those who have enjoyed decades of nude sunbathing and swimming at this beach are offended by the state’s recent change, stating they would now cite anyone sunbathing without clothes. The state has better things to spend their money on than running after naked people on the beach, according to the group, that points to state budget cuts and closures of some of California state parks and beaches just this month.
There are only a handful of unofficial nude beaches in California ranging from San Diego’s Blacks Beach to several San Francisco’s Baker Beach.
