California’s No Nudity Beach Patrol

An attorney from Huntington Beach, Allen Baylis, and the group he represents, those seeking a place to sunbathe nude at the beach, had a setback as a court ruling to keep a cozy spot at San Onofre beaches in South Orange County open to nudity said, no way dude! Known as Trail 6, recent citations have caused the group of au natural beach-goers to go to court and argue their case for keeping it friendly to nude sunbathing.
Baylis, and a group he represents, the Naturist Action Committee, may take their appeal to the Supreme Court of California, he said.
On Thursday a panel of justices ruled that the argument for keep the beach nude-friendly isn’t valid. They pointed to no documentation or procedures to make an informal understanding official, so it doesn’t wash, they say.
Called Cahill Policy, there’s a regulation that California State Parks and Recreation violated when they adopted a nudity ban per a 1988 letter written by an official for operations as a set of guidelines, some say. It was never intended to be an actual rule or law, according to park officials today.
Though the whole thing seems somewhat muddled, the reality is that nudity is increasingly disappearing as expansion of development and the California population increases. Here’s the spots where you maybe can enjoy wearing nothing, but like all things, the rules may change.
