Mountain Golf Course, owned and operated by Big Bear Mountain
Resorts, is a 9-hole
public golf course situated in a beautiful valley overlooking
fragrant, towering
pines and deep blue skies. With the dry mountain air
perfectly tempered for your next game of golf, locals say that the
7,000 foot mountain elevation actually allows your ball to fly further, thus improving your
score.

Though Bear Mountain Golf
Course is not
open during the ski season (December through April), for
seven months out of the year you can enjoy playing this mountain gem again and again. On a recent visit, one San Diego reporter played the course three
times in three days. He loved the setting and the new course
improvements that included $100,000 in upgrades in 2005. Coming from some of the world's top
golf clubs that San Diego enjoys, that's quite a compliment.
The largest improvement
project in the history of the Bear Mountain Golf Course included
complete new greens and sand traps on holes 3 and 8, a new tee-box
on hole 3 that adds 40 yards from the blue markers, a new elevated
tee-box and driving range improvements. A grand stone entrance to
the course with a paved walkway from the clubhouse to hole 1
provides a country club setting for the only public golf course in
the
Big Bear Valley.
The Bear Mountain Golf Course
also offers golfers the perfect opportunity to practice driving and
chipping the ball. A 300-yard driving range is located on the north
end of the golf course. The range hut can be seen from Club View
Drive and parking is available off to the side of the street next to
the sixth fairway.
Owned and operated by Snow
Summit Ski Corporation, parent company of Big Bear Mountain Resorts
consisting of Bear Mountain Resort and Snow Summit Mountain Resort,
the golf club is located at the base of Snow Summit Ski Resort.
Operating under a San Bernardino National Forest special use permit,
during the winter snow and ski season the clubhouse transforms to a
ski school. Set at the base of Bear Mountain Resort in the Moonridge
meadow, Bear Mountain clubhouse offers a pro-shop during the summer
months, plus the Bear Trap
restaurant in addition to club and cart rentals. Golf lessons are
