Big Bear Fun Rides - Hop Aboard!

Transportation at Big Bear Lake changes like the seasons. Summer fun includes many boat rides and excursions not availed to the visitor who comes to ski in the winter..  From a horse-drawn stagecoach or carriage ride to a Hummer that traverses the mountainous countryside, you'll find tons of fun in the mountain resort that was named for the bears found in the Big Bear Valley in the early 1900's.

Today you're more likely to see a bear at the Moonridge Zoo or as an exhibit at the Discovery Center. But what's for sure is that the rambling spirit of the bears who roamed the wooded forests lives today in the adventurous, mountain residents who have created tours, trolley rides and even the tram ride during the summer months to explore the great outdoors.

During the winter ski season, the tram lifts switch to a ski pass for the dayy's enjoyment on the slopes. Some of the motorized tours and rides switch gears in the winter and take a brake.  On the water you can also take some fun tours in a tour boat or pirate's ships. Those are strictly a summer experience providing one more reason that Big Bear Lake lives up to its name as the resort for all seasons.

Bear Valley Visitors Trolley, the bright red trolley seen up and down Pine Knott Avenue, provides visitors and local residences an alternative to driving their cars to local attractions throughout the Valley. The Trolley provides service from Alpine Slide to the Discovery Center with stops at Snow Summit, Bear Mountain, the Historical Museum and the Village, with pickups at selected locations along the boulevard..  The Trolley operates on weekends and holidays year round with its last run ending around 5 - 6 p.m. Prices are quite reasonable. Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority (MARTA) offers its Visitor's Trolley for transportation around the valley.  marta.cc
