Looking down across the street, you can see historic Balboa Pavilion.  There's so much to do here without driving a car that we find this place must have been created for fun.  The hotel swimming pool is right next to the beach where you can step outside the hotel and be right on the sand to catch the sunrises and sunsets firsthand, if you opt for getting out of your room.        There's a rental kiosk right there that rents skates, bikes and other beach gear.  Walk out your door and there's a local bar and pub that has been serving up jazz and great local bands for years.
