Just a few miles from California State University Long
Beach, the city boasts the busiest seaport, busiest public marina
in the nation and convenient freeway access to Los Angeles. Residents claim
they have found the best of all worlds in one location.
Look up and down: As you stroll Second Street, notice
second floor outdoor dining but don't miss the "shadow art" along sidewalks,
as well. Boutiques, galleries, book stores, restaurants and pubs
offer a variety of items to taste, try and buy.
There are too many watering holes to mention. Just stroll
down 2nd Street any evening you'll have no trouble finding a place to stop
and enjoy the entertainment. Starbucks Coffee, Super Mex Restaurant and
Sweet Jill's are a few of my favorites. If you
are looking for a spot to dine and sip some brews to an ocean view, try
Belmont Brewery near the Belmont Pier and Von's Plaza.
Belmont Shore is an area of Long Beach, stretching along
2nd Street and Ocean Avenue on the southern most end of the city. Originally
intended to be an Italian-styled community running along canals, only the
connecting peninsula of Naples saw such dreams to fruition through the
efforts of A.M. Parsons. When plans were scrapped because of cost and logistics,
Belmont Shore instead became a charming beach community. Just a few
