Visit Shipley
Nature Center Spring Festival Huntington Beach, CA
"I really enjoyed
talking with all the nice people at the Third
Annual Shipley Nature Center Spring Festival
recently. Randy Lyford and I hosted the HB
International Surfing Museum booth at the event
and got to talk with people all ages, interests
and ethnic groups about our unique museum (5th &
Olive) as well as the beautiful nature center,
with its sensational animals, insects, flowers
and trees. I really liked the folk music from
Fifth Wheel and the Maypole Dance. The
kids had so much fun
carrying the Maypole into the Nature Center.
Here
are some of the videos and pictures I took at
the Spring Festival:

The Nature
Center has something for everyone, no matter
what your interest, from the fascinating history
of the local Native Americans to information
about feeding of the Monarch Butterflies to
discussions on the wide variety of native trees
and plants as well as the habitatt's diverse
wildlife.
Years ago,
I used to come to the center with my
grade school and middle school classes. My mom
also brought my cousins and me to the Nature
Center and Central Park to have fun on days that
school was not in session. My
favorite things to see were the exhibits in the
building and walking the trail outside, looking
for bugs, spiders and birds in the trees. Now,
thanks to the incredible work of the Friends of
Shipley Nature Center, the area has never looked
better. It's a definite work of love that's
cherished by those of us lucky enough to visit.
I highly recommend a trip to all of you reading
this message. Most of you will come back time
and time again but even if you only come once,
you'll remember your experience your whole life.
Enjoy. Chris"
Other
visits I've made to the Shipley Nature Center
have include a lecture on
Native Americans who lived in this area.
