US Open of Surfing surfers in the Huntington Beach,
California leg of the World Qualifying Series 6 Star competition are
shown in the video above.
There's no magic to great
surfing at the US Open of Surfing competition in Huntington Beach, Calif.
But surfers familiar with Southern California wave action have an inside
knowledge of how to ride those smaller waves that typically appear during
the month of July when the event hits the beaches of Southern California.
With that said,
Californians don't often win the competition in HB. Held annually, usually
the last two weeks of July, the event is more than surfing. It includes
several arenas of sports with skateboard, BMX bike and Surfer's Village with
giveaway items, expos, music, etc.
One of the largest beach
events in Huntington Beach, it doesn't match the numbers of Labor Day
weekend crowds, though attendance is great and fills the streets, bringing
them to a stand-still on the final days of the event.
If you want to watch, get
there early. It is held at the Huntington Beach Pier, Pacific Coast Highway
and Main Street, Huntington Beach, CA.
