Belmont Shore, Calif. --What's
it all about? Shopping is one thing that makes it zing.
Belmont Shore (or some call it Belmont
Shores with an "s") has a shopping district along 2nd Street which runs
parallel to the Pacific Ocean most of its length between E. Pacific Coast
Highway and Livingston Drive, which becomes Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach's
downtown area. The shopping opportunities extend approx. a mile and a half.
You'll find everything from pizza, to Thai food, two Starbucks Coffee,
banks, clothing, cinnamon buns, Real Estate, liquor, lamps, a health gym and
a post office...you name it.
The video is just that view. You could
be in a car driving or riding along 2nd Street (which we were), and see the
hustle and bustle of the 4 lane road, each direction separated by an island
with a narrow strips of lawn.
In our video, you may spot these
businesses: Panama Joe's, Ride Aid, Washington Mutual, Jack in the Box, BJ's
Pizza, Phuket Thai, Sweet Jill's, Saga, Legends, Pete's Coffee, Wells Fargo
Bank, Tilly's and more.
Parking on the street is limited.
Bring coins for meters and be prepared to walk a few blocks. Keep the meter
fed because Long Beach is relentless with ticketing cars when the meter runs
out. While traffic generally is good and drivers stop, do be careful. As
seen in the video, you get a few vehicles coming through, even when your
traffic light tells you that it's time to go.
In case you miss the seeing the
background scene above, the Belmont Pier, it is just a few blocks away from
the shops. Take time to visit if you are so inclined to head toward the
beach for a more quiet moment of reflection. When you need time to think
about buying something this little stroll at the ocean can clarify your
needs and put you the frame of mind for making a decision.
