Salt Creek or Strands...which beach is the best
OC beach? Locals like them both, but Strands has
less seaweed and is a great change from Salt Creek.
The video above of
Salt
Creek Beach asks locals what the best OC beaches are. They
tell us that Strands and Salt Creek are both great beaches.
You have to
park at the top of the hill off Coast Highway to
access Salt Creek Beach. Parking costs about
$1/hour. As you head down the paved, sloped hill,
golf carts from Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel zip by,
dropping off hotel guests at the top steps of the
beach.
Salt Creek is
teen central. Cute girls and guys from Mission
Viejo, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel and surrounding
areas find this beach the easiest to get to, easiest
to park at, it has a decent snack bar and the beach
itself is pretty clean with a really nice, fine
sand.
Set in a cove,
you can wander around one end of the cove to the
south and access Strands Beach. One day there is
supposed to be a
funicular elevator built to provide access to
the beach, but for now, just park at Salt Creek and
head on over past the small jetty and guard shack.
