Video Family Arts Day Huntington
Beach Art Center Interview
with Lindsey
The heart of a
community is its art. And the family
that paints together has lots of fun
in Huntington Beach's Family Arts
Day.
A
community-based art center that
offers camps, courses and concerts
(occasionally), the Huntington Beach
Art Center's most fun days, some
say, is its Family Arts Day. Held
each year (usually in the Fall), one
the most fun events at the recent
event was chalk painting in the
parking lot of the museum. Inspired
by a huge mural painted on the
building next door that faces the
museum, families got out the
colorful chock and created a variety
of graphic renderings that were made
to last as long as it didn't rain,
and the foot and car traffic didn't
wear them away. Kind of like the
Rose Parade floats filled with
flowers in Pasadena, the chalk art
renderings have a short shelf life.
In the video above, the family arts
coordinator states that there are a
variety of booths and types of
activities available free of charge
during Family Arts Day. There's
circle art, acrylics, chalk,
ceramics and more. The day includes
entertainment with puppet shows,
music and clinics or instructors to
show youngster or even
art-challenged adults how to dig in
and have some fun. You don't have to
have a family to attend this event.
Singles are welcome, too! But
children abound at the Family Arts
Day and they really "paint the town"
figuratively speaking. Call:
