Funzone Carousel, Ferris Wheel and
Sign as Tourists Climb off the Balboa Ferry Boat.
Newport Beach,
Calif.--Are
you ready for a surreal amusement filled with whimsical fun? Hop off
the Balboa Ferry at the Fun Zone, or drive your car across the bay
on the funn-est ferry boat ride (only lasts a few minutes) and park
on the Newport peninsula, then stroll along the small fun zone
overlooking the Newport Beach.
Cotton candy, balboa bars, hotdogs, sodas, pizza and decadent snacks
all add to the carnival atmosphere in this little waterside
amusement comprised of the Ferris wheel, carousel, and fun zone
video and old-fashioned games.
Tourist souvenir shops line this small boulevard overlooking the
water where you'll also find several boat tours offering: whale
watching, bay cruise, Catalina Island trip, fishing trips and
rentals of powerboats, canoes and electric Duffy boats.
The
Newport Nautical Museum opened its doors in the Fun Zone area and is
ideal for kids to explore. It's small but fun. Across the street at
the beach (beach 'n bay), is the Balboa Hotel, Balboa Pier with the
original Ruby's diner, sand beaches, kids playground, surfing, a
pavilion with summer concerts and rentals ranging from rollerblades
and bicycles to bicycle surreys for the family.
The
photo above is an actual photograph of two people exiting the Balboa
Ferry from Balboa Island. The signs announces, "Welcome to Balboa".
This portion of Newport peninsula is called "Balboa" and across the
bay is called "Balboa Island".
