Comedian Jon Lovits Opens CityWalk Comedy Club Near Universal Studios

Comedian, actor and writer Jon Lovitz, known for his roles in Saturday Night
Live and over 30 movies ranging from City Slickers to A League of Their Own and
The Wedding Singer, is entering a new venture with the unveiling of his comedy
club at Universal CityWalk in May.
"The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club" is expected to bring lots of star power to this
entertainment venue frequented by tourists to
Universal Studios Hollywood, and locals enjoying great enterainment
in other restaurants and clubs such as BB Kings jazz club.
Planning to perform regularly in the 400-seat club and booking performers,
Lovitz adds the title of club owner to his credits that include several Emmy
Award nominations.
President and Chief Operating Officer at Universal Studios Hollywood, Larry
Kurzweil, made the usual congratulatory comments about Lovitz coming on board
at The Entertainment Capital of L.A.
Dinners and appetizers from Mulberry Street Pizza, Jerry's Famous Deli and
The Perfect Bite will complement a full bar in a shopping mall open free to the
public as the gateway to the attraction theme park. There are over 60
entertainment-themed restaurants, nightclubs, shops, Universal CityWalk Cinemas,
and many special events at this venue, but none dedicated solely to comedy.
About Lovitz: Did you know he earned his bachelor's degree from the
University of California , Irvine? The California native (born in Tarzana) was
discovered by SNL's Lorne Michaels at The Groundlings Theater in Hollywood. His
career has spanned several decades and credits are extensive. But what stands
out about the professional actor and entrepreneur is that people find him to be
a truly nice guy.
Universal CityWalk is a division of Universal Studios, a part of NBC
Universal. Owned mostly by General Electric (80%), it was formed in 2004 and
combined the assets of NBC and Vivendi Universal Entertainment. NBC Universal
owns and operates television stations groups, picture productions, theme parks
and more. Vivendi controls 20% of the company.
