The theme of this Huntington Harbour
(Huntington Beach, California) lighted home includes individualized surfboards
of various colors, each with one of Santa's reindeer painted on it. Then
standing tall and playing drums in front of this festive harbor home are two toy
painted soldiers. Docked in front of the house (or mansion is a Reel Tiger boat,
plus a canoe. Those living in this region clearly love their seafaring vessels
and it is no wonder why. During the holidays you can hop aboard a boat, ship or
yacht and enjoy numerous lighted boat parades along the California coast and
Sacramento delta.
But a very special event that really isn't
about boat, but about homes, is called Cruise of Lights. It is designed to raise
funds for youth music programs offered at additional expenses in schools.
The island residents (five islands make up
Huntington Harbour --excluding Sunset Beach's Sunset Island) participate by
decorating their mansions and homes with strings of lights, painted scenes, and
decor to annual designated themes set by a committee. Houses win prizes for best
decorations and are sure to become part of the boat cruise tour that people can
buy tickets to ride and enjoy.
The award winning decorations and lights
on the home in the photo gallery picture above show tropical hibiscus flowers,
effective use of colors on the painted surfboards, and messages of Hope,
Harmony, Love and Joy. An ornate display of lights and painted scenes shows
Santa's helpers surfing on sets of waves, all created by the artistry of
Christmas light bulbs.
The bright colors and positive messages
blend to create a very happy lighted home that rightfully deserved an award.
