California is
filled with beautiful beaches filled with
beautiful girls, shown in photos on

Sunbathing is all about timing. In
Sunbathing 101, the first lesson is
"Don't get burned." Why? Burning
will serve the skin no useful
purpose. California beaches are
offering surprising lessons not
always welcomed by vacationers from
the Midwest U.S., especially.
Forgetting that sand and water are
highly reflective, tourists think
that a seemingly overcast day can't
possibly create sunburns. But few
days and few vacationers are immune
to sunburns at the California
beaches.
Whether it's hot and sunny or cool
and slightly foggy, it IS possible
to get burned at the beach!
Successful tanning amongst locals is
a long, slow process. Not something
you can dive into so fast. Sure,
there are skin types that just don't
seem to ever burn that much. Some
girls and guys will tell you that
they really don't burn. But for the
most part, most people do get burned
by being in the California sun even
20 minutes.
One of your best bets for a
successful tan is to start with a PF
15 or 30 sunblock lotion for the
average skin. And believe it or not,
you will still tan, as long as you
don't stay out in the sun too long
on your first few visits.
Tourists' biggest beach mistake is
sunburn, then getting caught in rip
currents, is the top mistake causing
rescues. When you look at the
pictures of the teen girls
sunbathing above, years of lessons
in how to get a tan have made these
girls quite savvy about the art of
adding color to the skin. They
usually start in the spring around
March. Gradually increasing their
time out on the beach, you'll find
them during the summer staying out
for even several hours.
Where to go if you seek a
youthful crowd could be anywhere on
the coast. But this prime location
with plenty of sand and beach action
is Huntington Beach. Affordable
hotels include
Howard Johnson or
Best Western, while pricier
digs will have you saying "Wow!" in
Hyatt or
Hilton.
