Skaters photo shows a Huntington Harbour lt home for Cruise of Lights
Holiday Yacht Tour.
A lighted home in the Huntington Harbour
includes surfing Santa riding a wave. Meanwhile the dark shadows of people
out on the balcony and inside this waterfront abode can faintly be seen.
The home decor is part of a massive effort
by residents of the four or five island of Huntington Harbour in Huntington
Beach California to decorate their waterfront patios, houses, boat docks and
decks for the public to look out. For several weeks before Christmas the
residents of these mostly non-gated communities turn on the lights and pull out
all stops to participate in a community-minded program designed to raise money
for kids in schools. The money actually is targeted for music programs which
were de-funded years ago. Recognizing that children need music and art (or at
least exposure to it), the Huntington Harbour Philharmonic Committee plans each
year for boat cruises with narration that are available for the public to ride
on and tour the island houses and mansions.
The cost of ticket is quite affordable
(not much above $10 or 15), and it goes to a great cause, to help students.
Seen above is one of the simpler designs.
We included it in the photo gallery to show those of you looking for decorating
ideas that simple can be quite effective and fun when planning your holiday
light decorating on your home.
