Nature Center Spring Festival Bing Bag Toss Game
for children includes environmental messages.
The annual
Spring Festival is an event for all ages, though
many activities are geared toward children. From
face painting to bing bag toss, a
maypole dance to nature tours, kids delight
in this Central Park habitat that's
kid-friendly. Opened daily except for Sundays,
Shipley Nature Center offers learning
experiences for those who seek to discover more
about the local animals and plants that grow
naturally in Southern California's coastal
region.
In
addition to the annual Spring Festival shown
above, the Center features special restoration
and planting days, open house tours and garden
lectures. School tours can be arranged through
the Shipley Nature Center office.
The Nature
Center needs volunteers and always appreciates
the help of community groups and individuals.
For current volunteer opportunities or
sponsorships, call the office during open hours,
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Carol
Williams: (714) 842-4772 Location: 17829

Hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday;
added summer hours on Thursday : 8 a.m. to 8
p.m.
The 1,500-square-foot Interpretive Center at the
Nature Center is a great place to take children
to explore. Displays, dioramas and interactive
games geared to educate both children and adults
about the region’s history, native plants and
wildlife are just the beginning of a delightful
journey. Sometimes toddlers have just enough
energy to visit the Center, but older kids like
to start at the center, then wander the paths
with adults, and explore the trails.
Several trails meander through habitats such as
a meadow and grassland containing over 20
species of California wildflowers and bunch
grasses.
