San Diego
Christmas Boat Parade, called the
San Diego Bay Parade of Lights, is
just more festivity for the seafaring city that celebrates and lives
by the sea daily.
You
have to visit San Diego to understand the magnitude and passion the
city has for its boats, yachts and vessels. While many of its
esteemed residents are retired Naval military officials, the love of
boating extends to nearly every sector of society. After all, San
Diego is built fronting manmade bays.
One
of the top tourist attractions (ranked second only to Las Vegas for
the Thanksgiving holiday for California vacationers), San
Diego has many boating superlatives. It has hosted the America's Cup
three times in recent years, and holds one of the largest boating
shows in the U.S. each January. Not only can you ride the
America's Cup Stars & Stripe sailboat
on a cruise, there are also
many boat tours
during the holidays, and all year through.
So
when San Diego holds a boat parade, you better take notice.
Each December the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights enters the mix of
things to do and see during the Christmas holidays. With a splash
and spark, the parade begins with a fireworks show to light up the
sky. Then the boats move along the bays of San Diego, ending up in
Coronado.
The
attendance is great and this event truly delights all who attend.
