Ranch Round-Up allows visitors
to recall ranching life in Southern California when farming and
livestock dominated the landscape. From the open range to home, the
day of fun and learning includes activities such as a welcome and
salute by the Long Beach Mounted Police. There also will be exhibits
featuring horse breeds, horse back vaulting and fancy trick roping,
livestock demonstrations, an authentic chuck wagon encampment,
blacksmith and antique farm machinery, domestic arts- butter
churning and jam making and entertainment..
Do you love Western-style
music? There will be a band playing those tunes. Also included
is a petting zoo, pony rides, kids crafts, story telling and rodeo
games. Refreshments will be sold, as well.
Parking can be a mess. Here's
what to do: Free parking is available at Cal State University, Long
Beach, Lot 11, located at Palo Verde Ave. Continuous and handicap
shuttle buses will run throughout the event.
