Pismo Beach Volleyball Courts right on
the beach are steps from the Pismo Beach
Pier and several hotels, making for
stress-free competition.
Pismo Beach is one of
Californiaa's mellowest sunny-day beaches for volleyball play.
Why? Less crowds than L.A. Some dig sardine-packed beaches in
the summertime but we like our volleyball on the line and like
it in places where there's plenty of room. Set off from
the busier pier and steps leading from it to the beach are some
sand volleyball courts adjacent to the big public parking lot
next to several hotels such as
Sandcastle Inn.
There are also volleyball
nets and sand courts at the foot of Wadsworth Street at the
beach. With the Central Coast's cooler weather, volleyball play
is generally very pleasant. The temps seldom rise above the
mid-70's making for a comfortable sweat that's hard-earned at
these nets. Central Coast has some great athletes both in
volleyball and other beach sports. As a matter of fact, Pismo
Beach hosts an annual kiteboard event, one of the largest (if
not the biggest) in the U.S.
With snack concessions,
restaurants and beach rentals near the Pismo pier you'll seldom
find yourself of volleyball rental should you want to take up a
game when visiting. Of course you can always try to jump in on
another game going on if the talent matches your skill level.
You will find a lot of tourists batting around the ball for some
R&R and non-serious beach volleyball play. These folks are
generally very low-key and quite easy to approach about climbing
aboard, or getting a net for heavy duty competition.
There's a nice set of
public restrooms and outdoor showers next to the pier so you can
clean up after you get sand all over your body during your
games. Pismo Beach offers really the best beach for volleyball
games for miles surrounding. Our next pick that's almost 2 hours
south is Santa Barbara, where they really take their beach
volleyball seriously. They're actually quite passionate about
it, in fact. You can read about
more volleyball
courts on the beach in our California beaches travel guide.
