Santa's Helpers at the Holiday NO Parade in Sunset Beach are set
to traverse the parade course in a green wagon.
Santa's helpers are warmly,
comfortably decked for the holiday in their matching white kids'
sweatshirts, red Santa hats and functional forest green wagon with
its garland decorations of red and gold. In the picture above you
can see a big red bow frames the back of the wagon they are being
pulled in, as UN-official parade entrants in the Sunset Beach
holiday NO Parade held annually along Pacific Street north and
south.
Wheels are one of the best
methods for getting around the two mile course that the parade
entails. Wheelchairs, bicycles, scooters, wagons (all seen in the
photo above) and cars are some of the vehicles in the NO Parade
event.
How much does it cost to
attend? NO money at all.
How often is it held? NOT
often...once per year.
Who can come? NO one is
excluded.
Why would you go to this
parade? Absolutely NO reason whatsoever, except to have fun.
The NO parade has an
unofficial set of rules that NObody talks about, until you enter the
parade. I drove my car behind the parade as the last car to move up
midway on Pacific to catch the last half of the parade as it looped
back around on Pacific St. South. People sitting outdoors
having parties commented, "That car isn't part of the parade. They
just got caught in the traffic." To be considered part of the NO
Parade, it is recommended that brings lights, bows, stuffed animals
or other decorations to signify you've gone out of your way to
participate.
