Naples, California bay takes on a special effect in the winter
when the lighted holiday trees are set atop the water in the bay.
Magical in appearance, the trees are really wooden platforms with
cut tree shapes that looks just great at night. Tourists and
residents are mesmerized by beautiful Naples bay.
Naples, California was
designed after an Italian city. Its bays, gondolas, sabot sailboats,
yachts and water-loving residents all light up at Christmas. They
light up their houses, their boats, and even the water with tree
platforms that float in the bay. It's something to behold! As seen
in the photo above, the trees are simple, and on closer look, are
made of tree shapes sitting on waterproof buoy-type platforms.
One a warm Southern California
evening when the winter skies turn bright orange and the
Long Beach rowing teams come breezing by in the Alamitos Bay,
you gaze to the hilltops of Signal Hill in the distance and almost
shiver. No, not for the cold, but for the beauty of it all. Long
Beach in which Naples is located has the largest municipal marina in
the United States. In the evening as you watch the boats row into
shore, or yachts to their slips, you develop a special love for the
water-life.
In addition to the ocean smell
that soothes your soul, a silence comes over the bay as activities
and people settle down. While this ideal life and bay that houses in
the distance (seen in the picture above) overlook seem desirable,
prices have shot up on waterfront properties and it's unlikely
you'll find one of the homes for under several million dollars.
Average folks can, however,
soak up the views by standing on the 2nd Street Bridge passing over
the bay, or look from the shoreline at Bayshore Drive, or even
Ocean.
The other event that takes
place in these canals is the Naples
holiday boat parade the 2nd Saturday each December. People
absolutely love this homespun event that fills the bridges and
canals with merriment.
Shown above is a lazy Saturday
evening summer sunset in Naples. Looking down the channel at the
lovely homes, a flag gently flows in the breeze with no cares
whatsoever. A gondolier just passed by with a young, smiling
couple who were talking and looking ever so in love. This
golden colors, the splashing sounds, the last moments before it
turns dark... these are some of the beloved memories of Naples,
California sunsets.
