Naples Gondola (Getaway)
One of the loveliest,
friendliest bays in all of California for romance and family fun is
Naples Bay, or Alamitos Bay. All day you'll see gondoliers from the
Gondola Getaway steering their guests toward the channels of Naples
Island.
When the developers built this
place 100 years ago to attract buyers to their home lots that were
for sale, they envisioned village living akin to Italian lifestyle.
It's fantastic that the gondola ride was introduced over a decade
ago as romantic or fun experience rekindling not just relationships,
but also the history of Naples, part of Long Beach.
The picture above was made
from a real photo. It shows an attractive couple taking a ride with
the gondolier steering away from the dock where the vessels are
kept. The Italian flag draped on the back is a giveaway that the
wind is not blowing. Sailboats can be seen in the bay. This is
where Sabot sailboats were invented, and where you find them
dutifully filling up the bay with fun and pleasure.
The next time you visit
Southern California, be sure to sign up for a gondola ride. If you
don't choose this one in Long Beach, there are others offering
similar prices in nearby bays such as Huntington Harbour and Newport
Beach.
