Ghost Trolley Tours of Monterey, California

Monterey--If you are as big a Halloween fan as I am, then you may discover the Ghost Trolley is going your way in Monterey.

The Ghost Trolley of Old Monterey is a unique attraction offering a 90 minute night-time trolley ride filled with incredible history and lore about the haunted buildings, cemeteries and ghostly places of the region which features an official Ghost Tree. Halloween and the Fall season holds special meaning for those who believe the thinning of the veil between the living and spirits of the dead occurs during this time.

"It's one of our busiest seasons," says owner and founder Gary Munsinger. There's tremendous interest in the Ghost Trolley tour and although scheduled for weekends, if you have a group that wants to take a weeknight tour, give us a call.

The narrated trolley ride visits  Monterey's history and legends and explores available information to understand just who the reported ghosts may be. The tour begins at some of Monterey's most notoriously haunted buildings. Soon you will be winding in and out of the path of history in the Ghost Trolley of Old Monterey, visiting locations of recent and historical sightings. Along the way, you will visit the oldest church in California, Monterey's historic cemetery and old legendary adobes to relive the stories of their inhabitants.

Founded around 2002, owner Gary Munsinger said that there's so much information to share with tourists and curious locals, he never runs out of material.$28 Adults - $9 Children 12 & Under - Please no children under 5.  8:00 PM Tours - Friday & Saturday Nights.

Make it a ghost vacation! When you visit, did you know that The Monterey Hotel has a resident ghost named Fred, who used to work in the hotel as a handyman. Fred is known to jiggle door handles, change "do not disturb" signs guests leave on a door, and do other mischievous deeds. The hotel has a log of the reports of incidents that guests and co-workers tell them about. It is an historic hotel and as such, has no elevators. To get to a beautiful upstairs room you must be able to carry your luggage up the stairs. What an ideal place to book your accommodations in the spirit of the season or anytime, in fact.
