Picture of a Fish Restaurant
Monterey Bay was
maintains the character of a cannery village that once existed, facing the
nation's largest national marine sanctuary. Now a tourist attraction, this
destination was once filled with workers who fished or worked around
sardines in the canneries.
The smell was strong and
the air salty. The lifestyle was immortalized in fiction by author John
Steinbeck, who is honored with a museum in nearby Salinas.
Today tourists wander the
several block region. The highlight of the visit is romantic, scenic bay.
And the top tourist attraction is the Monterey Bay Aquarium, located close
to the restaurant on the wharf shown in this photo above.
The photo itself was a
real photo that was turned into a graphic art image. Only one or two
filters were applied and to our delight, the lights of the restaurant
building that were less noticeable in the originally picture become more
prominent after filters were applied. You often lose the shape of seagulls
and other such birds with application of filters over the entire picture,
but in this case the birds held their own and are still identifiable as part
of the setting.
Where to eat: When
visiting, you may enjoy the Fish Hopper, Bubba Gumps and several restaurants
offering bay views.
Where to stay:
Several superb hotels and many surrounding hotels fill Monterey, a
destination that people from around the globe adore because of its scenic
beauty. We used to stay at Monterey Bay Inn, but it became too popular and
is seldom readily available. Whenever you lose one hotel, you always find
something better. Give up the bay stay and the barking sea lions and seals
that may keep you up all night, and get yourself a lovely room at the
Monterey Hyatt
Regency nearby. The rooms are larger, there's dining on site, and
many rooms offer golf course views. The hotel has the ambience of Monterey
with its large bar lounge with the conversation fireplace. You can stay
downtown at the
Marriott,
Monterey
Hotel, or a variety of options, all walking distance to the fish
restaurants.
