Luxurious Historic Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel near Pershing Square
Los Angeles -- As I
wandered around the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles recently,
the breath-taking beauty of the hotel swept me away, especially as I wandered
along the hall filled with black & white photos of Hollywood celebs who attended
Academy Awards banquets there. Opened in 1923, today the Millennium Biltmore is
immacutely maintained and as beautiful as it was in its early days.
When you look at the many photos showcased in the
main floor lobby and hallway, you can't help but wish you might have sat in the
same room with these stars and starlets, and sipped cocktails. Coming out of a
recession and soon entering World War II, the U.S. sought heroes and Hollywood
created them.
The photo of Ronald Reagan and Jayne Wyman were
taken on Feb. 27, 1941, at the 13th Annual Academy Award Dinner at the Biltmore.
The picture of Cesar Romero and Ann Sothern at the 8th Academy Award was taken
on March 5, 1936. The photo of Bette Davis and Spenser Tracy was taken Feb. 23,
1939.
The hotel is located next to the MetroRail station,
overlooks Pershing Square and is close to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. If
you're looking for a place to get away, this has romance written all over it.
The
hotel rooms are nicely priced currently (especially on weekends).
