Light a Light of Love snowflakes on the
Huntington Beach Pier proceeds support a youth shelter that has been in
Huntington Beach for many years.
Huntington Beach, Calif..―Light
a Light of Love snowflakes on the Huntington Beach Pier are rented to
sponsors who get a name plaque next to a snowflake that is light from
the light of the flake during the month of December. The snowflakes
actually stretch from the pier through the first few blocks of Main
Street, illuminating the way for shoppers and tourists to shop and play.
What is the value of support of
this project? A youth shelter located in the city's Central Park
was once largely supported through city funding. When budget cuts were
enacted a few years ago, this program was one to lose much of its
funding. The shelter closed for several years but re-opened in summer
2006 under the new management company, Community Services Programs, Inc.
The company was founded in 1972 at the University of California Irvine
as a Social Ecology Program. The non-profit agency operates the
Huntington Beach Youth
Shelter program, a youth shelter in Laguna Beach and receives
support from Coral Thrift in San Clemente. Donations of lightly used
clothing and items are needed. Location: 532 - 534 N. El Camino Real,
San Clemente, CA. Call: (949) 492-2385. web: cspinc.org.
