The photo above offers viewers who can't
attend this piece of paradise for the holidays a glimpse into how we
Californians live...well, some of us, that is.
This lighted home in the photo above is a
picture taken at the Huntington Harbour in Huntington Beach, California. It
shows a slightly religious theme, with red, white and green, a manger scene, and
some special touches. For instance, the boat dock is lit up and leads the way to
the Duffy parked in front.
Most effective for its use of icicle
lights, the house has integrated a massive number of Christmas lights, yet the
glow is not too bright.
The waterways in front of the home are
golden, like strings of pearls winding back and forth in a zig zag pattern. If
you wonder why people enjoy this time of year so much, it's because of the magic
touch that some have. By adding light designs to a home, the normally darkened
manmade channels of this residential community come alive with color, light and
special meaning, as well.
The designs are done for a boat show the
public pays to ride. Called Cruise of Lights, the Huntington Beach
Philharmonic is a nonprofit organization that does this each Christmas holiday
to raise money for school children music programs. Now that's a holiday gift
that counts!
Another holiday fundraising effort in
Huntington Beach is the annual
Light a Light of Love
for the Huntington Beach Youth Shelter.
