Sunset Beach parades and beaches are made for children.
Though most of the local events are more adult-oriented, the
children are definitely not forgotten.
Kids are a privileged class in
Sunset Beach. They have their own
fenced playground near the beach and within a walk of Jack in
the Box,
sand volleyball courts on the beach and an extensive art program
that helps kids with projects such as painting the banners that
hang from the light
poles throughout the community.
So when a parade comes along,
what better way to celebrate being a kid than partaking of creative,
imaginative outdoor Christmas fun! The kids at NO Parade deck
out their wagons, bicycles and scooters with colorful garland, bows
and lights that glow.
Community events for kids in
Sunset Beach are fairly low-key, like everything else about this
beach community. There are no shopping malls within the community
bounds so to see Santa, most go to a mall nearby such as Fashion
Island in Newport Beach.
Christmas for kids might mean
playing with their new toys in the sand or riding with mom or dad
down the street on a new bike. Young adults can access one of the
finest bike paths in the county that begins at the edge of town
(near Warner and Pacific Coast Highway) at Bolsa Chica State Beach.
And just a walk from the house, most kids in Sunset Beach also can
experience the State Beach bonfire pits.
So a parade makes for a fun
night in Sunset, but life offers many outdoor opportunities for kids
at this charmed beach.
