Staying at Home in Huntington Beach
can be a vacation, even when you're
working.
Sometimes I dread leaving town on a
press trip or assignment. Huntington
Beach generally has fine weather,
allowing me to work all day at my
desk with the window open to a
gentle ocean breeze blowing through
from west to east. Every time I get
off a plane after landing somewhere
else, I can't help but notice the
weather. Usually there's more
humidity and heat, or more cold and
sleet. Once I see a city or
destination, I've never had regrets
and have always loved it, however.
I
didn't grow up here in Huntington
Beach, and like so many people, I
gravitated and stayed because of
family and friends who found the
place and really liked it.
A
special treat whether local or
visiting is just checking into
one of the luxury hotel rooms
at the
Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach
Resort & Spa. The
room, itself, is not so luxurious as
the views. If you book one of the
ocean view rooms you'll be treated
head on directly looking out at
Huntington City Beach and to the
north you'll see the Huntington
Beach Pier. Wow. A perfect
sunset over the pier is just to die
for! I like the Hyatt most the time,
but also find the
Hilton Waterfront Resort
offers a bit more personal service
and touches as a smaller hotel that
remembers you when you come if you
are a repeat customer. You can
compare prices on the Hilton with
the other, or check out
other properties that I will tell
you about from personal experience.
Not everyone has beachfront budgets
ranging from $200 upwards. But
you can get the same view in a hotel
down the road and even closer to the
HB Pier at Best Western Huntington
Beach Inn. The
rates are lower than the
other two hotels and when you stay
there, you'll see why. The rooms are
suitable, but not the 4 Diamond
ranking that the other two
properties garner. If location and
budget is what you seek, Best
Western may be your best bet for the
fall and winter months.
While friends have stayed at
Hotel Huntington Beach, most
find it just OK. I personally think
it's a good value for Oktoberfest
celebrations, and when your home is
being remodeled, or whatever. Movie
watching across the street at
Bella Terra and nice dinner
at
Cheesecake Factory always
light my fire. Plus, the mall has
some free concerts out in the
courtyard plaza.
Residing in HB has more ups than
downs, but sometimes you just "gotta
getaway".
