Beach Treasures Include Nature - Huntington Beach Spring Festival in Shipley
Nature Center
Shipley Nature Center Annual Spring Festival in April/May each year runs on a
Saturday morning from 9am to 2pm
The Annual Spring Festival and Native Plant Sale at Shipley Nature Center is
hosting its 4th annual event in Huntington Beach. The public is invited to join
the fun by attending a Nature Friendly Information Fair with a wide variety of
community groups and businesses sharing useful and informative materials.
Adults at the event can learn how Natives plants can bring life to your
garden, and support the Center through purchase of the plants sold all day.
Learn: how getting rid of your lawn and replacing it with California Native
plants will attract good insects and feed the birds and butterflies to make your
garden a wonder of nature; how live animals from Inside the Outdoors look up
close and personal; and how kids can participate in the
Maypole Dance and parade at 11:00 am. Live Entertainment will be
provided by Students from the Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts
presenting a selection of acoustic music and food will be sold throughout the
day.
Tours – Shipley Docents will be stationed along trails to explain about the
flora and fauna that make up Shipley’s 18-acres. Visitors can wander the trails
to discover the pond, the Redwood Grove and other habitats.
Monarch Waystation features Monarch caterpillars and butterflies at home in
their own Shipley Habitat, while the Wildflower Meadow blooms offer photo
opportunities.
