Huntington Beach Protestors Attend City Hall City
Council Meetings to Urge Impeachment of the President of
the United States (George Bush)
Huntington Beach, Calif.
Impeach
George Bush, was the chant from a group of protestors
holding signs in front of the
Huntington
Beach City Hall and City Council Chambers before a
City Council Meeting on Monday night. They kept coming,
week after week, urging the City Council to help the
cause to impeach the president. Some council
members have stated that they are not interested.
As the rally urges Bush impeachment, a coalition of
groups has previously held rallies in Huntington Beach
supporting the impeachment of President Bush and Vice
President Richard Cheney.
Catholic Workers, Green Party of Orange County, OC Peace Action and
sign-toting protesters met at the Huntington Beach Pier,
across the street from the district office of Rep. Dana
Rohrabacher, R-Huntington Beach above Jack's Surfshop on
the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street.
Individual members of the Huntington Beach City Council
spoke recently on record. Council member Keith Bohr said
that city government was not the appropriate place to
tackle such issues. And Council member Don Hansen
said that he would not support the cause.
Impeachment Center holds that Bush and Cheney abused
their powers of office by using information they knew to
be false as a justification for invasion of Iraq,
condoning and authorizing the torture of prisons of war
and rendering detainees to foreign countries known to
torture, as well as authorizing warrant-less wiretaps on
U.S. citizens for more than five years. The effort
continues to be coordinated through the National
Impeachment Center in Los Angeles.
