What's Hot in HB - Huntington Beach
?
Huntington Beach, Calif.―the
seaside city that touts over 11 million
visitors annually, is heating up with
some great sports activities and events
on the horizon. Having just wrapped up a
paintball competition on the beach
sponsored by the US Paintball League,
the sands are pristine and the stands
are being set up
soon for the
AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. One
of many U.S. stops, this event is held
next to the Huntington Beach Pier
overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It will
be held in May.
July brings
the largest beach event of the year, the
US Open of Surfing. Held in late
July, Huntington Beach
hosts an event that includes a world qualifying
surfing event, along with skateboard
competitions, and a huge sand beach camp
with exhibitors and give aways.
Back after a
hiatus, Boardfest rounds out the summer
on Labor Day weekend with a coed affair.
Once geared strictly to girls, the event
now targets all youth and adults with a
focus on boards, to be precise. In past
years the event trucked in snow for a
snowboarding competition on the sand.
Now that's something to watch! This
event has been cancelled twice so do
check boardfest.com for updates!
