Huntington
Beach Christmas Parade Main Street Holiday Celebration
First weekend in December (usually a Sunday)
Huntington
Beach Christmas Parade,
Santa's Arrival and
Main Street Holiday
Celebration, now enjoy
their 13th
anniversary, arriving in
downtown Huntington
Beach just in time for
the holidays.
Beginning at 1 p.m.
local chefs will create
chowders and soups to be
sold along Main Street.
Proceeds from the food
sales will benefit a
local charity. At 4:30 on
Sunday a popular
children's parade begins
at Orange Street and
heads toward the
Huntington Beach Pier.
The parade stars a
surfing-themed Santa
Claus and his wife, Mrs.
Claus; Miss Huntington
Beach and her court;
cars from the Southern
California Woodie Club;
local Brownie, Cub Scout
and Camp Fire Troops; and
usually a group of
Bernese Mountain dogs
dressed for the
holidays.
"Light a Light of Love,"
the pier lighting
ceremony, is kicked off
at 4:45 p.m. by a
popular local band that
will perform live at
Pier Plaza, followed by
the professional
children's performing
arts company or some
other form of
entertainment. At 6
p.m., HB pier, decorated
with illuminated,
artificial snowflakes,
will light up to the
delight of visitors who
can view these sparkling
lights throughout the
season till after
January 1 each year.
The snowflakes are
sponsored by local
merchants, businesses
and private individuals
with proceeds benefiting
the CSP Huntington Beach
Youth Shelter.
This is by no means the only parade in the city of
Huntington Beach during
the holidays. Be sure to
check out the
Huntington Harbour
annual boat parade,
held two nights in early
December.
