Boat Parades:

An inflatable white bear cheerily peers over the bow of the boat in this Huntington Harbour
boat parade decor.
The Huntington Harbour boat parade photo
above shows an inflatable polar bear peering over the bow of a boat while its
owner decorates the house in the background with his ladder perched and hundreds
of white lights strung or draped in tasteful design.
If you think it's tough just decorating a
house, try to decorate your mansion, and your seaworthy yacht or boat. That is
an annual ritual at the Huntington Beach Cruise of Lights and Huntington Beach
Christmas Boat Parade, two separate events that occur in the waterways of this
Orange County city annually.
Less popular to visitors and less known
than Cruise of Lights boat tour that provides rides around the harbor to look
mostly at homes, is the Huntington Harbour Annual Christmas Boat Parade. The
event is fairly well attended by yachtsmen, and watched by homeowners, but
guests don't gain easy access or vantage points, thus the event is completely
upstaged by the Cruise of Lights. And rightly so. Cruise of Lights is the big
fund-raiser, while the boat parade raises only a fraction of the money through
boat entries. The annual boat parade is held before Cruise of Lights is launched
in mid-December. Another parade held in Huntington Beach occurs one night only.
That's the annual Main Street
Christmas Parade. It's small, it's quaint, and its family-oriented--ideal
for tiny tots.
Huntington Harbour is in the heart of the beach action with
hotels that surround it, including
Best Western Harbour Inn. It's a
delightful harborside accommodation
celebrities like to hide out in. And
while visiting, don't miss the
gondola ride in Huntington
Harbour. Authentic Italian gondolas
ply the smooth waters of the mellow
waterways of paradise. Where to eat
on this getaway? Captain Jacks, of
course!
