Outdoor Summer Concerts Abound in
California - Pictured is Huntington Beach
Huntington Beach, Calif.―One
of California's and Huntington Beach's favorites seasons is Summer, when
concerts fill the air with good vibrations. In Huntington Beach, there
are three free concert series in the summer. Central Park concerts shown
in the photos above, are held on the grassy lawns behind Central
Library.
A few miles away at the beach,
Pier Plaza next to the Huntington Beach Pier comes alive with eclectic,
jazz, country, zydeco...you name it. And a few blocks away from
the beach you can groove to the beat of surfing tunes.
In the musical series of free
concerts shown above, the events are sponsored by a long time tradition,
the Huntington Beach Concert Band (which usually plays one or two of the
concerts during the season, plus one during the winter festivities.)
Along with the city band, a repeat regular band seen is the L.A. Police
Department Band, that usually has a huge brass section and most often
plays jazz.
From Broadway themed concerts to
pop, jazz and not much rock, mosie on down one Sunday afternoon to soak
in the vibes of Central Park, its locals and music from seasoned
musicians who've often "made it" in the recording studios and do the
weekend gigs in parks as more of a hobby.

Huntington Beach Vacation Guide:
For those seeking to visit and stay a day or two, you'll need a
rental car to drive to this location. You can rent a car and
hop a flight to Orange County Airport in Santa Ana. Once there, the
drive to Huntington Beach takes about 15 minutes. Where to stay?
Do you want to spend a little for budget digs, or spend a few hundred
per night for luxury? The choice is solely yours. Luxury comes in
several shapes:
HB Hilton and
HB Hyatt are two top notch hotels, both four diamond AAA options.
(They earn those diamonds through amenities, service and fastidious
cleaning.)
Budget is available inland a few
miles. Budget travelers really like
Howard Johnson. If it is booked, you might consider
Hotel Huntington Beach near the Bella Terra Mall. No one we've
spoken with has ever really raved about this hotel. But the location is
great, rooms generous in size, and price is right.
