Cleo Street
Beach is across the street and accessible from hotel stays at
Holiday Inn in Laguna Beach, Orange County's favorite getaway.
Holiday Inn is a
comforting sight as travelers drive along Pacific Coast Highway
between Dana Point and Newport Beach. The hotel is very nice
looking, and its greatest asset is its beach-close location.
While it sits on the busily trafficked Pacific Coast Highway
(which makes its price more affordable than hotels across the
street on the ocean side of the road), it shares the same
gorgeous beach, Cleo Street Beach shown in the photo above.
Cleo Street Beach is a
surfing and family sunbathing beach. Accessible via a set of
steps, the beach is close to two surfing beaches, St. Ann's
Beach and Thalia Street Beach with is surfing classes and surf
shop on the corner of PCH. Surfing really continues
throughout this section of Laguna Beach, marked by its pale,
smooth sand, turquoise water and family bend.
When visiting and booking
hotel rooms in Laguna Beach, there are around 15 hotels ranging
in price from around $99 / night off season to $500 or so at the
finest resorts, Montage and Surf & Sand. Holiday Inn is one of
the affordable options for accommodations, with a swimming pool
surrounded by tropical plants.
Laguna Beach, itself, sits
at the bottoms of a mountain where houses cascade down to the
beach at the base of the mountain side. There are no hotels way
up in the hills, but the hotels do sit on hillsides and cliffs
above the beach, requiring a descent down stairs or ramps at
most beaches (there are around 25 beaches in the city).
When you try to book a
room at Laguna Beach hotels, including the Holiday Inn, it will
be hit & miss during the summer months as the demand for
accommodations often exceeds the available lodgings.
Sometimes you'll have to work your trip around the available
days if you wish to make it a Laguna Beach stay.

If you're flexible about
your hotels but not so accommodating about the dates, your
nearest cities to book rooms near Laguna Beach will include Dana
Point and Newport Beach / Newport Coast and Balboa.
Those are all beach
cities. Laguna Beach is cut off from inland cities by a canyon
and wilderness area, so you'll have to drive a bit to get to
inland hotels closer to Disneyland. The drive is scenic and
pleasant, however. If you can't find available rooms at the
Holiday Inn in Laguna Beach, at least make a day trip to shop,
look at art, and dine at the cute bistros and restaurants.
