Nipomo seems like a small stop on Highway 101, though when
you exit and explore, you'll discover, it is really quite a
town. Though hotels hardly exists, the residential and golf
opportunities are known throughout California and attract
golfers to a Central Coast visit.
The road sign next to
Interstate Highway 101 provides a look that's somewhat rural.
The road sign for Nipomo on the Central Coast also shows the
town offers community activities and organizations for residents
and tourists to enjoy.
Nipomo is one of the
fastest growing little cities on the Central Coast. It's nearest
neighbor to the south is Santa Maria and it's town border is not
far from the Santa Maria stock car race track. As you
drive through Nipomo on Highway 101, you may see a lot of
activity on weekends when the Nipomo Swap Meet is held. We
haven't been there in a while but found it mostly sold t-shirts
and other such items the last time we visited it.
What Nipomo is becoming
noted for are its golf courses golf course communities.
Just on the verge of plopping down some cool cash on a golf
course home, it was sooooo tempting to want to have that
two-story property with ocean views, lake views and views of one
of the holes of the course outside your kitchen and living room.
There are many such houses in Nipomo, located a few miles from
the Pacific Ocean. The lifestyle is laid back and appeals to
those ready to leave the rat race of LA or the Bay Area.
There isn't a lot to do at night, save some restaurants, bars,
and movie theaters. Retirees love it, as do kids who grew
up in the city and tire of commuting and waiting in long lines.
So if this road stop looks
a bit empty in the picture above, it represents the grasses and
trees, and things you can take time to enjoy in Nipomo.
