Half Moon Bay Surfing Culture Vacation Gallery Image
Half Moon Bay Picture Gallery - Surfing Culture in San
Mateo County Image
Half Moon Bay is synonymous
with surfing. In our image gallery designed to lighten up, the
picture above began as a photo. The photographer met a really nice
group of locals who offered her a beer. These friends shown in the
picture have grown up together and have no desire to move away from
this incredibly special place. This is the home of Mavericks big
wave surfing, the largest mainland surfing competition requiring tow
to access waves that can reach 50 to 60 feet when conditions are
right..
Surfing is a way of life in
this region and the surfing culture is incredibly mellow. Walking
out of a main floor beach suite at
The
Beach House Hotel, you can exit a gate to the beach and walk a
short distance over to this particular beach where the
surfing, swimming and kayaking are popular.
Of course we enjoyed The Beach
House Hotel immensely. This is also home to five diamond Ritz
Carlton Half Moon Bay, and many affordable options such as a Best
Western.
Where to eat, Mavericks
Brewery and Restaurant would be a top choice for soaking up surf
culture. You'll see some of the best surfers hanging out having a
nice dinner or eating out on the patio overlooking the ocean at this
surfing-themed microbrewery restaurants.
Getting to Half Moon Bay is as
easy as flying into SFO - San Francisco Airport. From there you must
rent a car to get yourself to the bay. From the south, you'll
find Santa Cruz and the north is San Francisco.
