Cleo Street
Beach in Laguna Beach is located close to Main Beach and
shopping, plus it offers many hotel options for California
weekend vacations or getaways.
For a mellow beach with a
splash of sand, Cleo Street Beach is a kids vacation paradise as
shown in the photos above. Why do families and children
think it's so wonderful? It's close proximity to downtown
attractions such as Laguna's famous art galleries make this a
beach within your reach from most hotels in the city.
Located
in a neighborhood of established residences, Cleo Street is easy
to find from South Coast Highway. Not far from the better known
Thalia Street beach and Thalia Street Surf Shop, Cleo Street
Beach enjoys the same spectacular ocean, open to all who care to
participate. The primary challenge, however, is finding enough
parking so that you can ditch your car and stay. Several metered
spaces are usually taken, so like other beaches, you may want to
park across Coast Highway and walk over to the beach. To find
this treasure of a beach, take Pacific Coast Highway and turn at
Cleo Street, which ends at Oceanfront, a private street which
can cause you to miss seeing the beach access point.
For diving, a popular
sports activity in Laguna, look for Foss 125 or Cleo Street
Barge, a wreckage not far from shore that's great for exploring.
Located in about 50 feet of water approx. 200 yards from shore,
the 50+ years old ship that sank is in fair condition and
certainly worth exploring. Challenging to snorkel because the
cove is not protected and strong waves can pound the shore,
what's especially popular at this beach is skim boarding, a fun
sport where you run and jump on a moving target. Kids also
love body boarding.
Known as a popular family
beach, tourists have discovered this retreat. Caution is advised
on this beach, the stairs and the thin sand shelf of a beach
where high tides can force you back to the hills.
