Carmel --Carmel City Beach in
Carmel-by-the-Sea, California is dog friendly... and so are shops,
downtown, etc. Your pooch will find a welcome in many Carmel
locations (not all, but many).

Carmel River State Beach like many of
California's dog friendly beach locations.
Don't be surprised to see
people stop to adore pets in Carmel. Don't be surprised to see
galleries filled with plein air pet portraits, or water dishes in
front of shops. It used to the be the baby in the stroller
that got all the attention. Well move over baby sister, because your
stroller may be one day filled with a beloved pet dog.
Carmel beaches are pet
friendly. The soft sand and ocean scents are partially interesting
to dogs...but they mostly like to sniff the scent of other animals
and pets who have been within the path they walk..
Like all beaches, you really
better clean up or your dog's mess or you will be in big trouble. If
you are thinking of traveling with your pet to Carmel by the Sea,
we've noticed a trend the other direction. There used to be more
hotels accepting pets than there are now. On the left column
you'll notice that Monterey has many more hotels for pets than does
Carmel. So what to do? Make sure you have a hotel room before
you head to this region because hotel bookings are extremely popular
and you wouldn't want to find yourself caught short, sleeping in a
car with your pet.
