Thanksgiving Day
5K/10K Turkey Trot Run/Walk in Belmont Shore
Turkey trots are
becoming increasingly popular in California for
Thanksgiving Day events and celebrating. While we've
found many throughout several years, we have a hard time
determining repeatability of such Thanksgiving events.
This Long Beach - Belmont Shore Turkey Trot has a web
site, which is a pretty good indication that it has been
around and may continue in future years. When you see
this post below, this is the information we gathered at
the time we did our survey. Please do not hesitate
to update us as your events change or new Thanksgiving
events exist.
Date: Nov. 22, 2007
Time: 8 a.m.
Location: Belmont
Pool in Belmont Shore, just two blocks east of the
Belmont Pier.
Cost: $25 by Nov. 7;
$30/after; $35/cash-only race day; $10 extra to run both
5K & 10K races. Kids $10 by Nov. 7; $15/day of race
What you get: T-shirts to all runners and walkers, more
than 250 holiday pies randomly awarded to finishing line
participants, Red Bull, refreshments, bottled water from
Nestle Waters. Pies include pumpkin and apple. Over
3,000 runners and walkers are expected. Proceeds benefit
the 501c3 nonprofit Community Action Team (CAT).
START TIMES
Kids' 1/2-mile Wingding, 8 a.m.
NEW OPTION: walkers may begin (not timed), 8 a.m.
10K RUN/WALK, 8:30 a.m.
5K RUN/WALK, 9:30 a.m.
5K & 10K COURSE
The Start & Finish lines and parking are at the Belmont
Olympic Pool, 1 Bennett Ave., Belmont Shore. The flat
course heads toward Queen Mary and downtown Long Beach
along the beach bike path. The turn-around for the 5K
course is near the Junipero Ave. parking lot. The
turn-around for the 10K course is near Shoreline
Village.
FREE PARKING LOTS: More than 1,000 free parking spaces
in the beach-front metered parking lots at the Belmont
Pier (Termino Ave.), Belmont Pool (Bennett Ave.),
Granada Ave., 54th Place and at La Verne Ave.
