The latest round of lay-offs in a
variety of fields has created a new niche travel market--the
unemployed. With not much money but time on your hands, it's
easy to begin examining the mini-trip opportunities, and taking
advantage of budget trips that won't break you.
By cutting out a few Starbucks
coffee drinks, you can enjoy a getaway that will offer the
needed opportunity to take time for the little things, such as
watching the ocean, reading a book, taking a hike, and visiting
a museum.
BeachCalifornia sells
affordable vacations that are packaged with theme park
tickets and extra night stays. Be sure to check out the deals.
Do you need it to be free? That's
OK. Try a day trip to the beach. Our beach favorites for
exploring include
Laguna Beach's tidepools, and
Encinitas surfing culture.
Coast Highway drives offer hundreds of restaurants to stop and
enjoy a meal. One of our favorites in San Clemente is Pedro's
Tacos. And for Italian, a little cafe in Newport Beach along the
shoreline near Newport Pier is Il Gellato, where fresh pastries
and pastas are delightful.
