Newport Beach Bayside Drive
Beach
Bayside County Beach in
Newport Beach is one of Orange County operated beaches. Located
along the eastern shore of the Newport Bay, it includes
children's
swings and small, sandy beaches.
Bayside Drive runs along the waterfront of Newport Harbor. Near Bayside Drive
Park, it offers a public beach that's operated by the County of Orange. Mostly a
serene neighborhood playground, the nearby beaches in Corona del Mar get so much
more attention because of their unique geography, rocks to climb and vistas that
Bayside Park lacks.
Overlooking the beautiful Newport Bay, Bayside Drive Park is especially
enjoyable as a relaxing place to sit or lay in the sand and watch the small
sailboats, kayaks or large yachts float by. Newport Beach is one of the
most scenic small craft harbors because of its wide bays and beautiful homes.
Newport Beach beaches are especially interesting and diverse because they were
designed rather than just happening. In the early 20th century rock jetties were
built to block waves from hitting hard onshore, harbors were created through a
process of dredging and homes were built on newly-formed islands.
During this process one extremely popular surfing beach at
Corona del
Mar next to Bayside Drive Beach was lost because of the jetties.
