Fake bones are easy to decorate, they handle the weather well, and provide some humor for those trying to bring a change to the day-in, day-out, sunshine and blues skies that Balboa Island suffers from. The weather is so nice, people tend to live longer but as seen in the photo of a skeleton display at a Balboa Island home, if anything's going to kill you it could be junk food and beer.

The red pitchforks add a nice touch to indicate we should consider the evils of junk food. Balboa Island is one of the best places to wander and look at Halloween decorations in Southern California's Orange County. Some years are better than others and when the economy dips, so do the budgets for decorating.

Also, there are many view homes that are vacation rentals, and the weekly renters tend to not spend money on holiday decorating. When November blows Halloween out of the water, such homes are decked out thanks to the local decorating pros. It's a time honored tradition over 100 years young to celebrate the Christmas Boat Parade, which overlooks these houses on the bay. Lighting the homes isn't mandatory, but definitely recommended.
