Balboa Island Seasons of Fun -
Halloween Humor Photos
Balboa Island--When
October arrives, it's time to decorate your patio and home with
Halloween-themed displays such as the skeleton bride and groom
shown above. This
Newport
Beach island is one of a handful of residential manmade
islands in the city.
When you visit Balboa Island, it's all about seasons. Sure,
Balboa Island hosts events throughout the year, yet local
residents who comprise more than seventy-five percent of the
island occupants (renters and vacation rentals are prominent,)
tend to look at life not as a list of individual events, but as
an ebb and flow of the tides that wash their little island
shores in years of activities and celebrations.
From the first cool nights that signal autumn's return,
festive flower beds take on the seasonal colors of yellow,
orange and red, welcoming thousands of tourists who travel
by ferry to enjoy oceanfront strolls along South Bayfront. One
of the most fun times to visit and walk begins in October, when
the Halloween decorations are installed. While many do their own
Halloween installations, nearly half the island residents hire
professional companies to hang Christmas lights and create
holiday displays.
Known as one f the top ten holiday happenings in the U.S.,
the
Christmas Boat Parade is over 100 years old and enjoys
over one million attendance annually. Balboa Island is one
of a handful of manmade islands showcased during this event held
five days each year in mid-December.
