Avila
Valley Barn Halloween Celebration with
Petting Zoo & Pumpkins
Avila Valley Barn, 560 Avila Beach Drive,
San Luis Obispo, CA. avilavalleybarn.com
Avila Beach is an
unincorporated beach town in San Luis Obispo
County that captures time in a bottle with
seasonal displays and a community gathering
place at Avila Valley Barn. This long-time
market that sells fresh harvests of fruits,
vegetables and produce, much of it locally
grown, is a family-run business that makes
everyone feel welcome.
Come Halloween, the barn, farm yard, and
kiddie train ride through the fields of corn
make for an entertaining day in the
country--yet this valley location is next to
the beach! Such scenic places are becoming
more difficult to find in California, so
it's no wonder that the parking lot fills up
on weekends, Halloween and Christmas, as
young and old come to celebrate the seasons
in a friendly spot.
Selling
dozens of types of pumpkins, offering
bales of hay for kids to play on in a
children's maze, a petting zoo with goats,
and creating a special set with hay,
pumpkins and barn decor where parents can
bring their cameras and photograph their
kids for free, Avila Valley Barn is one of
the high spots in our visits to the
California Central Coast beaches.
Some come to stay at the serene
Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort
just around the bend, with private hot tubs
outside your door or at the beach hotels on
the other side of the hill along the
oceanfront. Favorites include the new hotels
such as Avila La Fonda Inn and
Avila Lighthouse Suites right at
the beach.
Other activities with farm fresh produce
include the
weekly
farmer's market in the village at the
beach.
