Ca Vacation Picture Gallery:
Pier Gallery
Have you seen the Huntington Beach Pier
when it lights up with an outer glow?
No? Well the camera doesn't lie...but
the picture can be manipulated to create
an illusion or different perspective and
attitude.
The Huntington Beach Pier is the top
recognizable icon, according to tourism
studies performed in Huntington Beach.
The pier can represent fun, color
because of its glowing red-domed
restaurant, and from a distance it is
recognizable for its prominent
horizontal shape.
When visiting Huntington Beach on
vacation or business, be sure to step
outside your hotel at the Hilton or
Hyatt and wander just a few short blocks
(four or five) along the paved sand path
to the pier. It will take approx. 10 -
15 minutes walking, or a minute riding a
bike or driving a car.
The Huntington Beach Pier was first
built in the early 1900's but has been
knocked down by fierce storms numerous
times. The current pier was the first
constructed with an engineering process
to withstand what other reincarnations
could not.
About Huntington Beach: Huntington
Beach, California is located in Orange
County with San Diego County to the
south, Los Angeles County to the north,
and borders Riverside County to the
east. 40 miles of beach (8.5 of them in
Huntington Beach, or roughly 20 percent)
include half a dozen beach communities
and 34 cities. Claims to fame: John
Wayne, the county that became bankrupt,
Richard Nixon Library, The OC, MTV
Laguna Beach, Sunset Beach soap and a
heck of a lot more. Huntington Beach has
close to 200,000 population. The climate
is mild and seldom reaches freezing. It
also seldom rains in this semi-desert
region. Long known for oil, Boeing and
bedroom community living, the city has
transformed like many and is growing its
vertical markets. There are two golf
courses--on public, one private.
