Swimsuit trends
Brown is beautiful but can be bold, too! Swimsuit colors
are subtle this season with lots of chocolate brown and
white which is often brightened up with a splash of
pink, turquoise, orange or other eye-popping color.
Swimsuit designers continue to offer some bright
graphic print designs because bright colors always look
good with a tan.
Bling is out, however. Bling is meant for fingers
and wrists this year. Rhinestones, sequins and other
glittery embellishments are so last year. In place
of Bling you should notice lots of "Natural" themes with
seashells, wood rings, raffia and other natural pieces
at the strap, bust or halter area. Bandeau bikini
tops and big buckles are still big favorites on the
tropical runway. Tankinis, two-pieces with a long
tank top that meets the bottom, are rising in popularity
this year. Two of the hottest trends for the
summer are retro swirls and polka dots. A few
patterns to look out for are bright geometric prints,
florals and bikinis with white backgrounds. Bold prints
inspired by the ‘60s and ‘70s, plaids, pastels, lots of
greens and pinks, coral and chocolate are hot.
Surfer girls are ahead of the fashion curve this year
with jewelry such as ankle bracelets and stone necklaces
back in popularity (we know they never went out of
fashion at the beach.) Southern California
beaches sell swimsuits all year long so if you need to
shop in the winter, go to places such as Santa Monica,
Manhattan and San Diego and you'll likely find what you
need with stores dedicated to swimwear.
